Parachute Jump

Yes, we did it! All ten parachutists took to the air for the first time and raised a bundle of cash! It was Saturday 14th July, blue skies and pale faces! I was one of the ones looking forward to jumping from the plane. I've done a bungy jump before so I figured I'd got another 8 lives left yet anyhow!

It took so long for everyone to take turns going up in the 2 tiny aircraft. They could only take a handful of people up at a time, and the journey to 10,000 feet took around 25 minutes. I was getting pretty bored and so loved it when I was asked to go get kitted up. My hubby was on the plane before me, so I waited for him to come down and then got into the plane. I was a little nervous but not as much as I'd expected.

It was a bumpy take off. Nothing like going on holiday! I've never been in a small plane before so it didn't feel all that safe to me and I wasn't convinced we'd all get back in one piece. We'd finally reached the correct height and a few parachutists headed on their bums to the door. They were jumping in formation and so when all they jumped out the plane lurched and I didn't feel too good at all!

Then it was my turn. I sat dangling out of the door while my instructor, Simon got ready behind me. Then before I knew it I put back my head and we were falling. The freefall was over really quickly. It was very noisy and I kept looking at the ground that didn't seem to be getting any closer. Then I had a tap on my shoulders and the parachute opened.

Instantly everything went quiet. It was then that I realised what all the fuss was about. Our world is beautiful from up there. We were gliding through clouds and rainbows. Chatting as if you were sitting in a cafe but with a far better view! Simon span us round and we corkscrewed to the landing area.

The ground was coming up really quickly then so we prepared to land. I lifted up my legs and we kind of thumped to the fall. We fell a little but I didn't mind. It was truly exhilarating. I can see why Simon had done so many jumps and frequently did solo freefall.

I would recommend it to anyone. You should grab at any exciting opportunity as you never know whats around the corner.
